Did you know that you can apply for a rebate of the establishment fee that the council charges to establish your new rates account? This could save you $299.00! The fee will be charged to the first rates notice that you receive after settlement, so we recommend applying once you have received this so have the required information for the application.
Fee exemption criteria:
It is your first home in Australia, the owner is living in it and:
– all owners are at least 18 years of age
– at least one owner is an Australian citizen or permanent resident
– none of the owners have previously owned a home in Australia
– the purchase price (including house and land) was less than $750,000.
